Prof. Robert Green OBE Visits Institute of Forensic Sciences & Cyber Security – Narnarayan Shastri Institute of Technology (NSIT-IFSCS), Jetalpur Ahmedabad, Gujarat for a Workshop on “Forensics: A Key Player from Crime Scene to Court”

 

The NSIT-IFSCS, Jetalpur, Ahmedabad, proudly hosted an insightful workshop by Prof. (Dr.) Robert Green OBE honoured as an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, a renowned global expert in forensic science. Prof. Green’s lecture, titled “Forensics: A Key Player from Crime Scene to Court” brought together students, faculties, and professionals to explore the integral role of forensic science in the criminal justice system.

 

The workshop covered the entire forensic process, from minutely observations at the crime scene and identifying scientific evidences till presenting them in court, emphasizing the importance of precision and accuracy in forensic practices.  Mr. Dharmesh Vandra, Vice President; Prof (Dr.) Nikunj Brahmbhatt, Principal and Mr. Sanjay Sharma, Campus Director of NSIT were also Present. After the session, the students delightfully interacted with Dr. Green and received signed e-certificate.


The session was conducted in 2 phases. The Morning session covered various topics related to the forensic processes, where Mr. Green talked about the crime scene, the importance of evidences, how various bias can affect the final results. The 2nd session was so insightful and knowledge grabbing, as the lecture was linked and explained with various famous case studies like “Brandon Mayfield – A Case study on Fingerprints, bias and logic”. Following the lecture, Prof. Green engaged in an interactive session with the students of the institute. The students, who were keen to learn more about the practical applications of forensic science, posed various questions about the challenges and innovations in the field. Prof. Green patiently addressed each question, providing detailed answers that reflected his vast experience in the domain.

 

Some of the key questions raised by students included:

  1. How does forensic science adapt to new types of crime?
  2. The ethical considerations involved in the collection and analysis of forensic evidence.
  3. The future of forensic science and how technological innovations, such as artificial intelligence (AI), are likely to impact the field

Prof. Green’s responses were insightful and encouraging, inspiring many students to pursue further research and careers in forensic science. He also emphasized the importance of ongoing education and staying updated with the latest forensic techniques and tools.

 

The visit and workshop by Prof. Dr. Robert Green OBE proved to be an enriching experience for all attendees. His expertise and ability to break down complex forensic principles into practical applications made a lasting impact on the students and faculty alike. The workshop highlighted the crucial role that forensic science plays in criminal investigations and reinforced the need for collaboration between forensic scientists and the legal community.

 

The event concluded with a vote of thanks. The Principal of Narnarayan Shastri Institute of Technology also expressed gratitude to Prof. Green for his invaluable insights and contributions to the field of forensic science.
