Faculty Profile: Dr. Harjeet Singh is a versatile biology researcher with expertise in forensic mycology, environmental microbiology, and clinical mycology. Holding a Ph.D. in botany with a specialization in clinical mycology, and a background in biotechnology, his research encompasses molecular markers, fungal enzymes, and innovative methodologies. He recently completed a DST-GSBTM-funded project focused on enhancing cellulase activity in fungal strains for biomass saccharification.
Dr. Singh’s pioneering work in forensic mycology led to the creation of Myco-Fingerprinting, a novel method for criminal investigations. His previous research includes developing early detection markers for aspergillosis and conducting genetic studies in cattle. Proficient in various characterization techniques, he has made significant contributions to scientific publications, demonstrating a proactive, interdisciplinary approach to research.
Driven by a passion for innovation, Dr. Singh aims to address Northern India’s pollution challenges and elevate forensic mycology in criminal investigations. Committed to securing research grants and producing impactful publications, he seeks to advance the frontiers of science.
